The monument, created in the summer of 1985, stands as a symbol and a tribute to the artisans of the past who, through their work, helped make Pabillonis famous a town known throughout Sardinia as sa bidda de is pingiadas (the village of the pots).
Pottery making was undoubtedly the most important form of craftsmanship and represented the only, yet highly significant, industry in the town alongside the production of roof tiles and raw earth bricks.
The art of pottery in Pabillonis has very ancient origins.
